Hi, I’m Carmen!

I’m the one-woman show behind Thunderloft Paper, based in Calgary, Canada. Stationery and calligraphy have been a big part of my life since childhood. My connection to writing and words is an experience I am grateful and privileged to have. When I started TLP in 2014, I was most excited to bring a connection through words to others around me.

Having moved across three provinces and four different cities, I can say that the landscape of our expansive country is an element that has followed me far and wide. No matter where I have lived, from the PNW to the Rockies to bustling-Toronto, nature has been been the most grounding for me. My classical literature and musical background are also both large influences on me. You’ll find that my work is often inspired alike by poetry, sonatas and wildflowers. Each of these is complex and layered in their own ways. Such layered artistic themes and ideas are what I try to bring to life through calligraphy and illustration.
